Small Zip Wallet with Cards

Core Life, date unknown

Polyester

11 x 9.3 x 3.8 cm

Purchased at the Bay in 2018

Personal collection

This is a wallet I received from my mum, on Christmas of 2018, after telling her that I wanted a new wallet that was small, easy to put into small pockets of bags such as my backpack and to be able to carry it in my coat pocket. This wallet is quite empty with only a few cards and receipts inside of it. Unlike the London coin purse, this wallet rarely has coins in it. If I ever have any coin change I leave it in my car for parking meters. Shown also in the photo are some of the cards I keep in my wallet, including gift cards to Starbucks and indigo, rewards cards such as a Bay card and a Shopper’s Optimum card, and my bank card.

My wallet and all my cards are very useful for the situation we are all living in currently in Canada, as well as many other countries in the world. Quarantined due to COVID-19, people rarely leave the house and many have turned to online shopping for both leisure items and groceries. My household here in Guelph has tried to buy our groceries online during this time as a safety measure.

While I do have many wallets currently that I like to switch between in the last two years it seems that I am drawn to this grey one to use, similar to the way I always use my small coin purse when I go to visit my family in England. While I have only had this wallet for a short amount of time, it already sparks fond memories of day trips with friends and family. A good memory this wallet sparks is a trip to Toronto that occurred on my last birthday. I went to Toronto with my mother and my best friend, whose birthday is a week before mine and I always look back on that memory fondly.
